  We are focusing on the school wide Lenten theme of "Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving"
The prayer portion of this theme is about going to Mass with your family on the weekend to join in the greatest prayer God gave us, the celebration of the Mass.  As you leave Mass, your child should look for the paper cross at the entrance of the church and bring it to school on Monday.  Then we post them on the windows outside the office.
   The next component of the the theme is fasting.  We have all made a Lenten promise to give up something that keeps us from the love of Jesus.  We are also as a school giving up snack on Fridays.
   For almsgiving, all the children are asked to do a few chores at home to earn coins to put in the envelope for the School Mass collection.  I am sending the envelope home on Tuesday this week.  Mass this week is on Friday morning because we will be attending the spring play preview of Godspel on Wednesday afternoon. But, you can send the envelope any time and I will keep it for them until Friday.
  With the six new computers up and fully running in the classroom, the children are reading and passing even more tests.  Most of the children have completed all five charts and have read 125 books.  But, we are not stopping there.  Continue to read the books nightly so they can earn points and more prizes.  Most of the children are choosing to read two books a night!
   Last week was my birthday.  My husband took me on a short trip to Waco to visit the Magnolia Silos featured in the television show Fixer Upper.  It is my favorite show mostly because of Chip and Joanna Gaines.  I brought the children a wooden book mark from Harp Designs made by Clint Harp, himself.  I visited his shop in Waco as well.  He too is on that television show. Today I brought in S'mores on a stick for my birthday treats.  The children were surprised I knew how to cook!  One comment was, "You made these?"
  There is a new list of Word Journal vocabulary and spelling words.  The pretest is Wednesday and the final test is Friday. We will probably have math homework every night this week.
  There is a flier coming home tonight about Chick-fil-a breakfast biscuits  being sold on the parking lot tomorrow morning for $2.50 a piece.
     Remember there is no school next Monday, March 27th.
