The count down has begun. As part of calendar activities, we count the number of days we have been in school. Well, now that we are passed the 100 day mark, my little mathematicians have figured out how to count ahead by tens from the 134th day of school and figure out we only have 40 days left. And so it begins, the count down to the end.
We reach a major milestone this week. The Scholastic Reading Counts Program generates lots of information about the children's reading skills. It also keeps track of the word count for each book they read and pass. We hit the 1,000,000th word yesterday. So, we are going to celebrate soon with an ice cream party in the garden when it warms up a bit. I am so proud of them.
There will be the usual, Word Journal, math homework and spelling tests this week.
Ask your child about the Resurrection Eggs we are using to recount the events of Holy Week. They love them.
