Great Week

So many fun things happened this week.  We planted petunias in the garden. And then cleaned up the area for the May Crowning.  The children were proud to tell the other classes they had worked to make it look nice.  We also enjoyed the area and ate lunch out there today. 
The final testing for report card are this upcoming week.  Please check the FISH Folder to see if there are few things to review with your child. 
The torch has been passed so to speak.  You may remember at the open house this year, your child received a letter from one of my first grade students from last year.  Today your child wrote that letter for incoming kiddos and I will use them for the open house in August.  I remember some of the parents saying things like, "A first grade student wrote all of that, " and "Do you think you will be able to write a letter like this at the end out the year?"  They have come so far and learned so much.  Please read  all the things they have shared in the Friday Journal this weekend.  We will work on a final draft of the letter this week.
The lesson plan book for next week is full.  Some have to take the spelling test.  We will walk to the Capitol one day when the weather is nice.  We will enjoy ice cream in the garden to celebrate a class accumulation of 1.5 million words from the books we have passed tests on this year.  AMAZING!!  We will finish the reading work book and phonics books.  We will spend next week getting those final Scholastic Reading Counts points.  I have to turn in the final number and raffle tickets on Friday, May 11. I am so proud to say EVERY STUDENT IN THE CLASS is going to attend the pizza party on Tuesday, May 15. We are reading at Mass next week.  And of course, we will be making Mother's Day gifts.
