It's Been Awhile

I'm so sorry for the lack of posts.  Even after thirty years of teaching and doing report cards, the new edition of the Diocesan Report Cards proved to be very time consuming for me.  I guess the saying should be, "You can teach an old dog new tricks, it just takes a lot longer!" Report cards went home last Friday.  Hopefully, all parents found them in the book bag.  Many sent in the sign up sheets today. Thank you.  If not,  I would like to conference with all parents this first quarter.  Tomorrow is the last day to sign up. For those of you that did, look in the book bag tonight for the from with the time we are schedule to meet.  I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday or Thursday.  If you sent in a sign up sheet for a conference but did not get a response, please call the office so you can be added to my schedule.

Now for the good news.  We will have a school wide celebration for Down Syndrome Day on October 28.  A flier went home about donating a dollar for Down Syndrome Awareness and earning a dress down pass for that day.  A generous donation was made by a parent from our classroom and as a result the entire class can DRESS DOWN on Monday, October 28. Donations are still being accepted up until the 28th.

You may have noticed in the book bag colorful math flash cards in a plastic baggie.  We do something called a Mad Minute.  The students have 20 math facts to finish in less then 60 seconds.  If they do and get all of them correct, they get to go to the Treasure Box. These math flash cards should be coming home every night.  Uses then to practice mastering the math facts they are seeing on those Mad Minutes.  Please send them back each day, because we do use them for daily math class and add to them frequently.

Speaking of the Treasure Box, if you are cleaning out things at home and would like to donate some things for the box, the children would love it.

Thursday is an early dismissal for conferences, but not a school wide Dress Down Day.  There is no school on Friday.
