First Monday

We are off to a great school year.  The first three days have gone so smoothly.  I am beginning to get to know each child's personality a little bit.  The first two days we spend a lot of time going over procedures and safety drills.  Today we were more into the routine and the atmosphere a bit more relaxed.
Be sure to check the book bag every night.  In the folder marked "home"  you will find some papers in the side marked "keep"  They are printing, phonics and a math booklet we did today.  In the side marked "bring back"  there should be a Technology Agreement.  I talked to the children some today about the expectations for using the school computers. We also talked about appropriate ways to use the computers here at school and polite ways to communicate with people using computers and phones, whether it be at school or at home. Please look at this agreement and talk to your children about it.  Then, sign at the bottom of the front page.  You and your child should the sign the back of the second page.  This form must be signed and returned before the student will be allowed to use the computers here at school.
 HOMEWORK  In the book bag you will find a notebook marked "Word Journal".  Knowing the vocabulary words written by your child in this notebook will be very important for success in reading.  These words correlate with the reading program for this school.  This list of words will be used daily on the reading workbook pages. Each child will have to read the words out loud to me for a report card grade.  We do go over the words in class but some children need a bit more practice at home.  Usually a new list of words will come home in the notebook each week on Monday or Tuesday.  Have your child read the words out loud to you.  When they know the words without any help, sign the page and return the notebook to school.  This week I am asking for the notebook to be returned signed by Wednesday, 8-20.

We have church on Wednesday this week.  Thursday is Spirit Wear day and Friday is a dress down day.  Don't forget to send a healthy snack each day for your child.
