We count on a number line each day the amount of days we have been in school. Today we wrote down 157.  They are getting so good at counting a head by tens, the students figured out that makes less than 20 days of school left, 17 to be exact.  I bring this up because these last few days testing for report cards will be taking place.  Take time to go over the Word Journal vocabulary from the word WANT to the end.  Recognition of a quarter, dime, nickel and penny and their value is really important to know those because this quarter they have to count the mixed coins of  pennies, nickels and dimes up to $1.00.  They should know four quarters makes a dollar, too.  Recognition of space shapes including a sphere, rectangular prism, cube, cone and cylinder are evaluated this quarter.  Measuring using inches and centimeters will be individually evaluated.

There is so much to do and very little time to complete it.

There is a new list of Word Journal vocabulary and a long list of spelling words.The spelling tests this week is just on Thursday.  The words at this point are all repeat of words they have already had so a pretest is no longer necessary.  

There will also be math homework on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

The cut off for accumulating Reading Counts points is May 10, 13 more school days.   Many of the children have made the goal of 200 points and will be attending the Pizza Party.  Others are so very close.  Continue to read nightly because even if they don't get the 200 points, they can still win great prizes along the way.
