Good to be Back

The wedding was beautiful.  The time off was filled with great memories for my family and me.  I brought each of the children a rose bud made from Hershey kisses we had for the guests at the wedding. You may have heard about it but did not see it in the book bag.  Most of them were eaten on the spot.  It feels good to be back to my normal routine.  I missed the children.

There is a note coming home in the book bags tonight.  It is about the standardized testing next week.  We took one part of the practice test today.  It is a bit intimidating for some of the children because on this test, I can't help them.  It is hard for them to understand if they don't know the answer to make their best guess and move on.  It is also difficult for some of the children who are not as attentive.  I can only read the question one time, no more.  Usually, I repeat the directions for them a couple of times.  So, please talk to them about listening carefully. We will try another part of the practice test again tomorrow.
Way to go parents of 1-L ! Your awesome attendance at the Home and School meeting has earned your child and their class a pizza party this Friday, 9-26.  They are very excited.
You may have heard some about Johnny Appleseed.  We are learning about the life cycle of an apple, how the apple tree changes with the seasons and about Johnny.  Today we tried apple cider.  Tomorrow we will make fresh applesauce and taste that, too.
Because of the testing next week, there will not be a new set of Word Journal vocabulary.
In case of a building evacuation, we have a Safe Place to walk to with the rest of the school.  On Tuesday next week we will take a walk to the place and talk about why we go and how we get there.
