Brrrrr!

On a cold day like today, the first thing I can think to write about is warm pajamas.  We are having a pajama drive for the Samaritan Center.  A flier came home last week about it.  If your child brings in a new or slightly use set of pajamas, they can wear their own PJs next Monday, March 2 to school.
I am so proud of the children who have read and passed enough of the Scholastic comprehension tests to have accumulated 100 points.  Six students from our class have earned the recognition of 100 points by having their picture posted on the bulletin board by the main entrance of school. By the end of this week, two more students will join them.  Next time you come into the building check out those smiling faces.  Don't forget to do the nightly reading with your child.
There is a new set of Word Journal vocabulary coming home in the book bags tonight.  Have your child read the words to you.  When they know them without hesitation, sign the page and return the notebook to school.   Due 2-25 
There is also a new list of spelling words.  The pretest is Wednesday and the final test is Friday. 
The first grade Grandparents Day is March 11.  We will be leading the school at Mass that day, too.  All the children from first grade will have a part in the Mass.  So, make plans now to attend. 
During this time of Lent, we are learning more about the Stations of the Cross.  The first and the fifth grade will do a joint effort in leading the Stations of the Cross for the entire school on March 9 at 1:40 in church.  All parents are invited to attend.
