The big news this week is preparing for the standardized testing next week. We will be taking some practice tests this week to help the children feel more at ease with the format of the actual tests. I will send the practice tests home on Friday for you to look at and go over with them this weekend. There is also a letter coming home with tips to help the children stay more focused and less stressed during the testing time.
There will not be a new list of word journal words next week so please take the time in the evenings to go over all the previous lists to ensure recognition without hesitation. We will continue the nightly reading and have an occasional math page for homework next week. Don't forget to keep practicing the word cards as well.
There is a letter about the Fire Safety Trailer visiting our school. Please sign the permission slip and return if you want your child to participate.
We have been talking about Pope Francis visiting the United States this week. Ask your child if they can tell you anything about Pope Francis.
We could use a donation of juice boxes for the children to enjoy to celebrate the end of testing next week. Before school started, I had purchased a box of graham crackers and Ritz crackers to keep on hand for those children who forget to bring the daily snack. We have already gone through them! So, if you would want to donate a box of graham crackers for the times they forget to pack a snack, I know they would appreciate it.
