Week Two

Thumbs up to those parents who  wrote responses to your child's Friday Journal entry in the Story Book.
Please remember each evening to check the FISH folder for papers to be Left at home or papers that need to come RIGHT back to school. 
Tonight there is a page of math homework that is due on Tuesday. 
Also you will find a notebook marked Word Journal.  Take a moment to have your child read the list of words for August 22.  When they can say the words to you without any help, sign the  page and return the notebook to school.  Usually a new set of words comes home weekly on Monday or Tuesday.  I allow two nights to study the words and then the notebook is due back at school with the signature. Each week a new set of reading vocabulary will come home in these notebooks.  These words come directly from the BASAL reading series we use.  It is necessary for your child to be able to read these words to complete the reading workbook pages and read the story for that week's lessons.  We practice them in school but the extra practice at home helps ensure their success in reading.  I will test them individually over these words for a grade on the report card each quarter.
