I have started testing for Report Cards.  There are a few items you may want to review with your child.  I will test the children over the Word Journal vocabulary from the list that begins with the word LONG to the end of the lists. 
One of the harder concept this quarter is contraction conversions.  Last week phonics pages 293, 294, 295 and 296 came home marked with KEEP KNOW FOR REPORT CARD.  There are colored boxes at the top of the page with the conversions they need to know for report card testing.  We have worked on contraction conversions in many times this year.  For some children they are more difficult.  Put these phonics pages on the frig with a magnet and while your cleaning up from supper or eating breakfast, go over them with your child
This week we will start dictation.  I will say a sentence and the children will have to write the sentence with correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation.  This is for a report card grade as well because these areas are specifically on the grade card.  The words will be the spelling words from previous tests.  We have worked on capitalization and punctuation all year. So, if you see papers coming home without a uppercase letters and no period or question marks, mention that to your child.
We will do dictation sentences every week so be on the look out for those and the grades marked on them.
There will be math homework each night this week along with a list of spelling words and Word Journal vocabulary.
