Already?

 By the end of this week, we are already in the month of October.  August seemed to crawl slowly by, but where did September go? We are working hard and quickly moving through first-grade skills. 

We are working on a new list of High-Frequency Words.  The words are tough this week.  Please sign the notebook and send it back to school on Thursday of this week.  We are also learning about words with double letters and the letters ck at the end of words in reading.  I will be doing a final check on the students identifying the beginning, middle, and ending sounds for a report card grade.  I will also spend time individually checking their knowledge of the High-Frequency Words from the beginning of the year until now for a report card grade.

We are continuing to write complete sentences with adjectives for more description.  Last week, we tried our first attempt at writing a personal narrative.  It went pretty well.  Nobody cried, including me.  

This week there will be math homework on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Starting Tuesday there will be and additional math fact page along with the practice page for homework.  The fact page will help them with the memorization of addition and subtraction facts which is a skill on the report card. 

We will be talking a bit more about the seasons this week and how the Earth's rotation around the sun.  In religion, we will be doing activities dealing with how special God made us and our families.
